My darling Val We met on the 28th of September 1956, and on that first meeting you lit up my world: you were so gentle, caring, open, and honest – and beautiful. I had never met anyone like you, and I had never felt the emotions that were overtaking me. I felt so alive and so excited. My head was spinning, and I must have been grinning like an idiot. I didn’t know it, but my life had just begun. As time passed our love grew; it deepened and matured, and we became as one.
